Wellness/Relaxation Massage

This type of massage is great for overall relaxation, stress reduction, easing chronic tension patterns and general, overall relaxation.  Long flowing strokes will help to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and decrease stress.  Relaxation massage is just as it sounds...relaxing!  If you've never had a massage before, this is a great introduction to the experience and benefits that massage therapy has to offer.

Deep Tissue Massage

This type of therapy targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue and is used to release chronic pain and tension patterns that are so common in our society.  The treatment usually focuses on more specific areas using deeper pressure.  It is both corrective and therapeutic.  This type of therapy is most effective when done with regularity.  One session will help, but your body will change dramatically after the third or fourth session. By the time you have had six or seven sessions, you will be much more flexible and will understand the true value of regular massage.

Note:  Deep Tissue Massage can be uncomfortable at times, but should never go beyond your pain threshold.  It is important that you tell your practitioner when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside of your comfort level.

Clinical Massage and Injury Treatment

Clinical Massage is for anyone who has been injured in a car accident or on the job, or has another injury or condition for which massage is medically necessary.  It is a more focused type of treatment utilizing specific modalities like Deep Tissue, Muscle Energy Technique, Myofascial Release, and Hydrotherapy among others.

Injury treatment is different from relaxation massage.  It can take anywhere from six weeks to six months for muscles, tendons and ligaments to heal after an injury.  Integrating regular massage with other types of treatment will not only relieve pain, but can decrease the development of scar tissue and speed the healing process.

For Clinical Massage, a doctor's referral is required.  Your prescription may include from 1-3 massages per week for several weeks.  Archer Massage Therapy will coordinate with  doctor and your auto insurance company (PIP) or L&I regarding your case and will handle all of the paperwork for billing.

Prenatal and Postnatal Massage

As all moms and moms-to-be know, most pregnant women feel discomfort and added stress on their bodies while carrying a baby.  Prenatal and Postnatal Massage shares many of the goals of regular massage — to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good.  But it is specifically designed for the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of the childbirth experience.  Special bolstering is used to support the mother-to-be in the most comfortable positions.

Benefits of Prenatal and Postnatal Massage include:
  • Emotional support and nurturing touch;
  • Relaxation and decreased insomnia;
  • Stress relief on weight-bearing joints, such as ankles, lower
        back and pelvis;
  • Relief from neck and back pain caused by muscle imbalance
        and weakness;
  • Assistance in maintaining proper posture;
  • Preparing the muscles used during childbirth;
  • Reduced swelling in hands and feet;
  • Lessened sciatic pain;
  • Headache and sinus congestion relief.

On Site Chair Massage

A Chair Massage is by far, the most convenient method of massage therapy.  Each session lasts 15 - 30 minutes and is done while fully clothed in a chair specially designed for this purpose.  It is a quick way to reduce tension in the back, neck and shoulders; thus providing deep relaxation.  It is both convenient and very effective.

Chair Massage is perfect for coprorate events, church events, bridal parties, and employee appreciation. Many employers offer optional chair massage as a regular benefit to their employees.
